Camp Mardela Grand Re-Opening

We are SO EXCITED to be inviting you back to Camp Mardela this summer, and this is just the beginning of the summer fun to be had at camp in 2021! This Saturday, May 15th from 12pm to 8pm we will have many activities you will be able to do safely. You can come for an hour, three hours, or stay for the whole day! You can participate in as many or as few activities as you are comfortable with, and we simply want to open the door and invite you in to enjoy your favorite parts of camp. Below are more details on the events that we will be offering this Saturday:

Walk-A-Thon

12pm-6pm starting at the Pavilion

Camp Mardela is affiliated with the Church of the Brethren denomination, and this event is one way we can give back to the outreach the church is doing. This Walk-A-Thon is a fundraiser for the Brethren Disaster Relief Fund to support those who have been impacted by natural disasters in the past year. To support, all you have to do is set a walking goal, get sponsors for your walk, then come to camp, donate your sponsor money at the Pavilion, get a trail map and walk to your goal!

This is a great way to explore Camp Mardela's trails and our updated trail map. You can enjoy hiking in the outdoors while also taking time to pray for and support those who are in need after being effected by natural disasters. You can come at any time between 12pm and 6pm to hike the trails at your leisure.

Camp Store

1pm-4pm at the Camp Store

Come see our new look at the store. We're stocked with everything from jump ropes to note books to Camp Mardela face masks. If you would like to show your Camp Mardela spirit, come support camp with a purchase from the camp store. Funds will be used to help supply our summer program.

Food Stand

1pm-6pm at Krabill Hall

Get a refreshing treat from the Food Stand at Krabill Hall. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, even shaved ice! You can order and pick up your food safely from the food stand and sit down and enjoy your food at any of the picnic tables or benches in the surrounding area. We do ask that if you are seated with people outside of your household, that you maintain 6 feet of distance.

Arts & Crafts

2pm-5pm at the Craft House

Express your creativity with some classic camp crafts! Craft supplies will be individually packaged for those who would like to participate. Tables will be outside the craft house so you can enjoy the great outdoors while letting your creative energy flow!

Canoes & Kayaks

2pm-5pm at the Floating Dock

Canoeing and kayaking are favorite camp activities at Camp Mardela. Boat around the scenic Watt's Creek and take in all of the sights from the water. Volunteers will help with cleaning of boats, life vests, and paddles and oars in between use, so that you can safely enjoy floating along the peaceful waters of Camp Mardela.

Camp Fire

6pm-8pm at the Pavilion

What better way to end an exciting day at camp than a good ol' camp fire! We will take time to thank all of the people who have supported Camp Mardela, camp fire songs led by Ellen Wile, and music performances by Joy Miller and Phyllis Dodd. There will be distanced seating around the camp fire and by the stage, as well as drive-in spots for those who would like to remain in their cars for the performances.

COVID-19 Safety Guidelines

We are thrilled to be able to invite everyone back to camp, but we do want to ensure we are still being safe. We ask that all guests follow these guidelines, regardless of vaccination status, so that all can enjoy these events safely and healthily. If there is signage encouraging safety measures, such as hand washing, hand sanitizing, and sanitizing shared objects after use, please follow the instructions as they are posted. COVID-19 has been changing the world rapidly, and we are hopeful that it will soon be in our rear view mirror, but in the meantime, we want to ensure we are honoring our brothers and sisters by following the current guidance the state of Maryland has put in place.
