Camp Scholarship Policies

Camp Mardela seeks to partner with parents, churches, and other supporting agencies to provide Christian camping experiences for children and youth who may not have the financial resources needed to pay the full cost of camp. As a result, a limited number of scholarships is provided each year to assist the camper with the costs involved with attending camp. Before applying for a scholarship, please read the following policies and guidelines:

1. A parent, church, or sponsoring agency must mail or deliver the completed scholarship application with the camper’s registration, and a minimum deposit of $60.00 to the camp. Inquiries may be made by phone, but no application will be accepted or considered until the camper’s registration and deposit have been received.

2. Applications will be considered on a first come, first-served basis. Camp Mardela will not reserve scholarship funds or spaces in camps for campers who have not met the criteria of policy #1 above.

3. If additional assistance is being provided by another sponsor or agency, it is the parent’s responsibility to indicate both the sponsor and the amount of assistance given on the scholarship application.

4. Children receiving assistance from other organizations and/or sponsors are not automatically disqualified from consideration. However, priority will be given to those applicants with no other means of assistance available.

5. The amount of assistance Camp Mardela is able to provide will vary each year, based on funds available and the number of requests received.

6. After a scholarship has been awarded, the remaining balance due becomes the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian, to be paid on or before the camper’s arrival.

7. If, after a scholarship is awarded, the parent or guardian decides not to send the camper to camp, they must notify the camp office immediately, so that the deposit may be refunded and the scholarship funds may be redistributed.

8. If a scholarship is not awarded and, as a result, the child is unable to attend camp, the parents may request a full refund of the amount deposited.

9. A separate form must be filled out for each camper requesting assistance.

10. All other policies and guidelines listed in the camp brochure governing personal conduct and participation in the camping program also apply.

Camp Scholarship Application

Camp Mardela believes that every child and youth should have the opportunity to participate in a quality Christian camp experience. We realize that sometimes, the camp fee can be prohibitive, and for this reason, a limited number of scholarships is available. These scholarships are meant to assist with the camp fees.
